Amazon Prime Day for year 2023 is just around the corner, bringing great deals and discounts on many items that are sold by the online retailer.

Starting from July 11 (Tuesday) to July 12 (Wednesday), Prime Day will bring amazing deals on everything — from beauty products to headphones.

But there are some mistakes buyers usually make that you should avoid before hitting “add to cart”, as per CNBC.

Not considering Prime Visa credit card

If you are shopping on Amazon then do it by using a Prime Visa credit card as it has a strong cashback potential at Amazon, Whole Foods, and doesn’t charge an annual fee.

Moreover, it also earns 6% cash back on Prime Day purchases and an unlimited 5% cash back on all purchases on, Amazon Fresh, Whole Foods and through Chase Travel, 2% cash back at gas stations, restaurants and drugstores, and 1% on other purchases.

Paying annual Prime fee without considering alternatives

Prime Day sales are limited to those who have a membership, however, if you don’t want to pay $139 per year then there are other ways to become a member.

You can sign up for a 30-day free trial if you haven’t been a member in the last 12 months or it’s your first time using Prime. Moreover, college students can get a free six-month Amazon Prime Student trial.

For that, use a valid credit card or a Venmo account.

In case you don’t have a free trial available, you can offset the price of your first year of Prime membership with the Prime Visa card. It will get you a $200 gift card on approval with no spending requirements.

Choosing fastest shipping often on non-urgent items

If your items are not urgent, then you shouldn’t use the fastest shipping option. By choosing no-rush shipping, it will help you get rewards or save money.

Those who don’t have a Prime Visa card should use no-rush shipping as buyers could earn immediate discounts or automatic rewards which can be used on digital products.

Not checking other competing sales

Apart from Lightning Deals, there are other deals on the web this week including Target Circle Week and Walmart Plus Week which don’t require any membership.

There are deals on Target and national brands like Dyson, Keurig and more which will be on discount of up to 50%. People who use Target RedCard can get an additional 5% off.

As for Walmart, those who have a membership will get access to deals on July 10. There are discounts on home items, apparel items and more while you can also get an additional 5% off with Capital One Walmart Rewards Mastercard.

Not doing price research

Before hitting the “add to cart” button, do your research on the prices and comparison shop for the items with other retailers as not all deals are good.

Buying items which can be bought at better prices during Black Friday or Labor Day

There will be other sales this year including Labor Day and Black Friday. During these, you can buy large appliances and furniture.

While electronics can be bought during Black Friday and Cyber Monday including gaming consoles which are cheaper.

Making no list

You should make a list while shopping during Prime Day and then stick to it. This will save you time and energy and will prevent you from scrolling endlessly.
