LAHORE:
Pakistan Furniture Council (PFC) Chief Executive Officer Mian Kashif Ashfaq on Thursday disclosed that Pakistan’s furniture exports registered astronomical increase of 80.3% in March compared to the corresponding period of last year.
Talking to a delegation of furniture manufacturers, he said now the volume of furniture exports had touched the figure of Rs179 million compared to Rs99 million in the same period of last year.
He emphasised that the furniture industry had big potential to dominate global markets with innovative designs and could significantly contribute to exports.
However, a package of incentives and facilitation was direly needed for further boosting exports, he added.
“If the government extended full support, the volume of furniture exports can touch $5 billion in the next five years,” he said and hoped that the furniture sector would grow and flourish in the coming days.
